Meet Macquarie Park Literacy Centre Manager, Rebecca Neylan
Rebecca brings an impressive 28 years of experience in education, with the last 7 years spent as a Deputy Principal in a primary school within the Parramatta Diocese. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Primary) and a Master of Educational Leadership – qualifications that have supported her journey through both classroom teaching and her executive roles.
Passionate about improving reading outcomes for all students, Rebecca believes that strong literacy skills are the foundation of lifelong learning and has dedicated her career to helping students unlock their full potential.
Why have you joined MultiLit?
I have joined MultiLit because I have seen firsthand the impact MultiLit programs can have on students – transforming not only their reading skills but also their confidence and engagement with learning. I am very excited to be part of a team dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of students.
What do you wish more people understood about learning to read, or about literacy or education in general?
I wish more people knew that learning to read is not a natural process. It is a skill that needs to be explicitly and systematically taught, with students being provided with lots of opportunities to practice.
